About US

Leading Tone provides the best instrument rental program in the Greater Puget Sound. No one else gives back to your schools music program. No other provider gives you one month of free rent!  No other vendor has a scholarship  program that enables students to participate in instrumental music for children in need. This year we are partnering with The Guitar Store to provide a comprehensive retail space for our Seattle area customers.

Our partnership with The Guitar Store is a unique joining of common interest between friendly competitors.  We are offering higher quality instruments for lower prices than offered anywhere else in the Puget Sound area.

We are dedicated to lowering the barriers that currently limit students’ access to instruction in instrumental music.  Our program, gives a percentage of all rental fees as well as all purchases to your schools music program.  We also assist schools with maintaining their district-owned instruments and offer scholarship instruments to students who cannot afford an one. For more information about these programs please visit our rental information page.

We’d love to see you at the shop. Come on down, or interact with us via Facebook!

Hey guys! Wondering if you guys have the strymon reverberator?! Rather buy locally then from online! How much are they running for at your store?

It was great to meet you last nite Michael. I’m loving the store so far, I need to come in for a visit so you can set up the JM JM

    Hi Joe,

Stop by any time we are open, would love to meet you.

  10. I just stumbled across this blog looking for Seattle guitar-related sites, as I moved here a month ago and I’m working on getting a teaching business up and running. And wow, you guys are walking distance from my place! (I thought I saw “guitar” in my field of vision on my way to The Duchess the other day. Now I know.) I’ll have to drop by next time I’m out.

The Strymon Timeline was released yesterday. Strymon gave a clue as to the release date. Note that all the pictures of the Timeline say 705ms for July 5. We are pleased to be the only Strymon dealer in the Pacific Northwest and I ordered as many as Strymon would allow. However our initial allocation is already sold out (except for 1 demo unit that will be in the shop shortly). We have started a list and can take deposits on the second round, which Strymon is working on as hard as they can. Please send us an e-mail or call the shop to get on the list.

  12. Adam says:

Hi, I’m curious to know if you plan on receiving stock of the Strymon Timeline pedal? I’m interested in purchasing one and would love to know if you have stock.

  13. Brent says:

Hey, any chance of you guys getting the TimeLine? Could you do an online order? 😉 Or I live in Portland, if there was a way you could reserve one, I’d definitely be willing to drive up there…

And thank you for buying from us! We really love the Strymon line, so it’s great to see others get behind them. I remember when I first tried the Bluesky Reverb; I was so shocked that a digital pedal could capture the nuance of spring reverb that I immediately ripped my EHX Holiest Grail (which is still a cool pedal) off my board and immediately traded it in on one. I told John, “Just… just take it. I don’t even wanna look at it.”

Cheers man! Thanks for the kindness and business! (Sorry if I told you that story already. I just really like Strymon. I get on a roll)

  15. Joel says:

Thanks for being the only shop in Washington to carry Strymon pedals. I love my new El Capistan I bought there a couple months ago. Keep up the good work!

Ryan! Lemme start by saying I’m pleased that you wrote to us today; you’re the first non-spam commenter we’ve had in a long, long time. We’ve gotten something like 40-something spam-ridden posts in a week’s time, so I’m relieved to see that someone read this page! Thanks!

We haven’t had any cigar-box guitars in the shop for sale, but we’ve seen a few and I can assure you that we’ve got customers who either make them or at the very least enjoy them. We have our channels, though, and if you’re looking for something I can assure you we’ll do our best to procure it!

Three string models seem more common to me, so I can’t imagine us having difficulty acquiring one- maybe even building one! And, why not? If you’ve got time to stop by the shop, come hang out. We’ll get down to the grit of it, and see what we come up with.

  17. ryan poll says:

Wanted to know of you have or had any cigar box guitars, specifically 3 string. Or if you know a good resource. Disclaimer, I’m a drummer but for whatever reason I have become very interested in them. (insert joke about drummer not being able to handle six strings)

    Anyway, thank you in advance,
